Pre-Kindergarten Applications Mailed To All Residents

The Comsewogue School District, pending passage of the New York State budget, will continue the universal pre-k program for district residents.  The program will be a half-day program beginning in September and will extend for the duration of the school year.  Parents must provide their own transportation.  We will be partnering with Alternatives For Children, located at 14 Research Way, East Setauket, and the Community Programs Center of Long Island Inc., DBA The Early Discoveries Center, located at 400 Sheep Pasture Road, Port Jefferson.

            Since we anticipate more applicants than spaces available, we will be conducting a lottery to determine which students will be attending pre-k in September 2010 and at which site your child will be attending.  If you are interested and have a student who will be 4 years of age by December 31, 2010, please fill out the brief application on the reverse side of this letter, attach a copy of your child’s birth certificate, and return the completed application to Dr. Joseph Rella at the District Office.  The application must be received no later than Monday, July 26, 2010.  The lottery will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 9:00 am in the District Board Room at the Norwood Avenue School, 290 Norwood Avenue, Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.  Successful applicants will be contacted and will then have to complete a registration form.
